Jennifer Cope ModernIt’s time to restart and refresh, Welcome, 2021! We’re glad you’re here as we kick off the new year with our annual Best of Design Issue. I love the promise of new beginnings, and I’m feeling very positive about exciting things to come.

As with most people, I’ve spent more time at home in the past year than ever before, and home projects have taken top priority to refresh and restart. I’ve completed many projects in my home to restart and refresh: exterior paint complete with new hardware, interior paint on walls and cabinetry, reupholstering benches and counter stools, an epic home gym, and, last but not least, my home office. I recently relocated my office to a detached garage apartment space, and the timing couldn’t be more perfect. The space is entirely functional as a studio apartment, containing everything you need for a productive day at the office – including a fridge stocked with Topo Chicos. One confession, though: I have become wallpaper obsessed. It all started with one small butler’s pantry, but I now have wallpaper in five spaces in my home, garage apartment, and counting. Someone stop me before my house is completely covered in wallpaper!

This issue features an array of design stories from across the state that should help fill your inspiration board. One of my personal favorites is a product roundup featuring Katie Davis’ top picks for designing a darling nursery. Hallie Henley recently renovated a jewel-box bungalow in the Heights, which is another story I’m excited to share. You’ll also see some snapshots from an intimate event last fall, during which I moderated a panel discussion with Marie Flanagan about her book, The Beauty of Home, at James Craig Furnishings in the Houston Design Center. With such a reduced social calendar in 2020, it was fun to get out and see design friends again.

As for new developments in 2021, I am so pleased to announce the all-new Modern Luxury Interiors website coming later this spring. The reimagined site will feature an enhanced, visually focused, user-friendly design. The site will spotlight the latest interior design trends and news, luxury homes, and top tastemakers from across the country- as well as take a deep dive into eight regional U.S. markets. The Modern Luxury Interiors network includes Atlanta, Boston, California, Chicago, Florida, New York, Scottsdale, Texas, and counting. With this growth, we are planning a weekly e-newsletter that brings the best design insights Modern Luxury Interiors has to offer directly to your inbox. More details coming soon.
